This week, we were successful in getting another development project approved. The project brings economic impact and jobs. “This is an $18.7 million construction project,” Burnett said. “Another $880,000 will be spent on furniture, fixtures and equipment. Sixty-eight of the new jobs will be full-time, 22 part-time and 41 indirect.”

SPECIAL-CARE FACILITY ON C.R. 213 TO CREATE 133 NEW JOBS
A Ponte Vedra Beach developer’s proposed modifications to Morgan’s Cove, an approved but unbuilt 283-unit development on County Road 214, will lower the number of houses to 266 and add a 200-bed special care facility — thereby bringing 133 new jobs to St. Johns County. The County Commission approved the modifications this week in a 5-0 vote. St. Augustine attorney Doug Burnett of St. Johns Law Group said, “This development was approved in 2006, but the economy (did not make it feasible then),” Burnett said. “These modifications are a great way to give great things to the county.” This project is a bit unusual because construction starts in June, far quicker than most other projects can get going.
